Industry support for the Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) Foundation’s fundraising efforts in 2011 came to almost $240,000. The foundation concluded its 2011 fund drive with a six-percent increase from 2010 levels, according to fund drive chair Barb Ross (Timken Drives LLC). Sixteen Vanguard (early) contributors led the 2011 fund drive effort and helped the PTDA Foundation jump start the 2011 campaign with contributions of $58,650 in late 2010.

“PTDA members recognize the importance of building tomorrow’s workforce," Ross said. "They are willing to invest to reach, prepare and connect with future employees because they know ICP [Industrial Careers Pathway] resources are available to meet today’s challenges. We are also pleased that our Alliance Partners — The Industrial Supply Association (ISA) Educational Foundation and the Association for Hose and Accessories Distribution (NAHAD) — continued their strong financial support for the ICP initiative.”

The 2012 fund drive kicked off in October at the PTDA’s 2011 Industry Summit, with the goal of raising $50,000 in Vanguard contributions and pledges before Dec. 31, 2011. Vanguard contributors enjoy a few special perks due to their early contribution, including special mention in the PTDA Annual Report.

“The early contributors help set the tone for the fund drive, giving them great importance and value,” said incoming fund drive chair Brian Short (Kaydon Corp.), who is stepping into the role in 2012.

Fund Drive Highlights:
  • Contributors included 212 companies from within the power transmission/motion control industry.
  • Of those companies, 83 have given four consecutive years.
  • Thirty-eight contributors increased their contributions in 2011 over 2010.
  • There were 29 new contributors in 2011.
