Johnston Equipment employees raise funds for Japan tsunami relief

Written by  PEM Staff Thursday, 26 May 2011
In light of the recent tsunami that struck Japan, the employees of Johnston Equipment, a national material handling company, have raised funds totaling over $12,000 in support of the Canadian Red Cross’ Japanese Relief Fund 2011.

The staff at Johnston Equipment was eager to assist after learning of the devastation in Japan. Supported by president Michael Marcotte, noting the company’s strong ties with parent company Toyota Material Handling North America and The Raymond Corporation, all 12 Johnston branch locations participated in fundraising events.

"It's hard for us to imagine not contributing to the relief fund," said Marcotte. "Everyone at Johnston was driven to do his or her part in helping the victims of this tragedy. Our employees have shown tremendous generosity and compassion and for that I am proud to be a part of this organization.”

On April 29, 2011, the employees presented Cay Nadon, Senior Manager, Corporate Partnerships Fund Development for the Canadian Red
Cross with a cheque for $12,000. Through everything from lunch events, prize raffles, donations, games, bake sales and flea market sales, the contribution made by Johnston Equipment employees is hoped to have a significant impact on those affected by the tsunami.
