Mike Holmes to take part in WorldSkills Calgary 2009

Gatineau, QC - Skills/Compètences Canada, a not-for-profit organization that actively promotes careers in skilled trades and technologies, recently announced that Mike Holmes, Canada's Most Trusted Contractor, and the man whose mission is to "Make it Right", will participate in WorldSkills Calgary 2009, which takes place September 1-7, 2009.
Mike Holmes is the host and creator of Holmes on Homes, an honest and revealing show about contractor rip-offs and how to avoid them. His knowledge, professionalism and honesty bring a high level of credibility to his show which has been #1 on HGTV Canada since the summer of 2004.
"I'm a strong believer in skilled trades training," says Holmes. "It's provided me with a career I'm proud of. I think young people should take advantage of the many great opportunities a career as a skilled tradesperson will give them."
WorldSkills Calgary 2009
Over 900 young Competitors representing skills, trades, and technology sectors from 51 Member countries and regions will participate in this four-day event, which takes place September 1-7, 2009 at Stampede Park.
WorldSkills Calgary 2009, the 40th WorldSkills Competition, will be the will be 2.3 the size of the 1988 Winter Olympic Games hosted in Calgary, Alberta. The organizing committee, WorldSkills Calgary 2009 Ltd. is leading the event coordination with support from WorldSkills International, Skills/Compètences Canada, and Skills Canada Alberta. Along with numerous sponsors and suppliers, the major event funding partners include: Government of Canada, Government of Alberta and The City of Calgary.
